Our founding fathers (waaaaay back in 1987) had an insightful and compelling vision for who and what New Hope Christian Chapel would become. They penned these two statements as part of our founding articles of incorporation within our Organizational Structure and they were true then and remain true today. Take a minute to get a glimpse into what sort of unique family New Hope began as and continues to be!

AS TO THE DEVELOPED “CULTURE” OF NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN CHAPEL

We believe and accept the need for strong leaders understanding that “strong” is not synonymous with “dictatorial”.

We are not affiliated with any given Protestant denomination. We choose rather to be more balanced in our approach to denominational dogma. We recognize, however, that positions that conflict with ours, held by other churches or groups, are not (by definition) automatically wrong. We do expect, however, that those seeking to join with us have chosen to voluntarily adhere to The Chapel’s Teachings, (for example, what we project to others, how we instruct our children, etc).

We are a non-traditional in our approach to many things. We do-not, however, disdain tradition. Indeed, we see tradition as healthy and necessary to stability, and that as time goes by, The Chapel is, in fact, establishing its own traditions.

We do not choose, however, to become the servants of tradition for tradition’s sake and feel free as a body to exercise a very wide degree of latitude in the manner in which we conduct the activities of The Chapel.

We are a creative group of people opting, almost without exception, for a common sense and rational course of action.

We choose to be self motivated, yet diplomatic, in our interactions with each other while understanding that diplomacy does not mean that we will not confront issues and situations directly.

AS TO THE DEVELOPED “PERSONALITY” OF NEW HOPE CHRISTIAN CHAPEL

We are a loving and tenderhearted people willing, if so moved, to show appropriate emotion in public.

We are not overly judgmental.

We are tolerant “of human frailty”.

We choose to be happy and joyful.

We are (as much as personalities and respect for the private space of others allow) affectionate and appropriately physical with each other.

We are openly generous to each other and, whether on the giving or the receiving side, we see generosity as a gift from God and an act of love, not a reason to feel the weight of indebtedness.

We seek to be open minded to the opinion of others in terms of political and stylistic disposition. We understand that adherence to the Bible does not necessarily mandate any one given political or social philosophy. We do believe, however, that some things are wrong because they are clearly so taught in Scripture. We will always defer to Scripture as our decision point.

We choose to be flexible.

We seek to be non-sexist and non-racist and further, do not seek to compete with each other in terms of economic status. There are no favored people or families at the Chapel.

We do not honor materialism; understanding rather that God chooses to bless different people in different ways at different times.

We seek to “do the right thing” versus “doing things right” in that we are not necessarily trying to make everyone happy. Our allegiance is solely to the Bible and the leading o f the Holy Spirit (and although not mutually exclusive) not to the acceptance of people.

Feel free to watch this short video about what you can expect from the service and message this Sunday, January 22nd! Join us at 10:30am at the Chapel this Sunday morning to hear what God has to say to you!

And as always, with each message that our Pastor, Elders, teachers, missionaries, and guest speakers bring to us, please come expecting to look into God’s inspired Word to hear what God has to say to you in your life situations. God’s Word is powerful and timeless, and contains the Truth and amazing news of who and what Jesus is and what that means for us. At New Hope, we value Bible study and research and exegetical preaching very highly, and we encourage you to dig into the Scriptures to see what God has said in the past and what He has to say to us today! Our sermons aim to be practical and relevant, yet at the same time rooted in the ancient nature of Christianity. We hope you will come and join us as we study the life and teachings of Jesus the Christ by digging into God’s Word each and every week together. Let God’s Word be an instrument to change your life!

He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.” We hold to these verses as promises from God that no matter what our circumstances, He cares for us and wants us to come to Him in prayer and thanksgiving. We pray together on Sunday mornings, in our Small Groups, in our homes and individually, and we have seen God generously respond to the spiritual discipline of prayer and prove again and again that He is with us and providing for us. Please make prayer an important part of your spiritual life as well, and if there are any specific prayer requests that you’d like to share with us, please feel free to send them to us via the contact form below and we’ll be happy to join you in prayer. And may God bless you as you seek to respond to His invitation to pray!

It may sound strange at first, but if you are hurting, lonely, discouraged, defeated, brokenhearted, or in an emotional state like any of these…you may be in the perfect place to encounter God! The Bible says that Jesus invited those who are weary and burdened to come to Him and He will give them rest for their souls. (Matthew 11:28-30) When Jesus saw the people around Him, He had compassion on them and His heart went out to them the same way a shepherd looks out over His sheep and loves them and cares for them! (Mark 6:34) In fact, the entire reason that God sent Jesus to the world, was to restore people to a healthy and complete relationship with God…the Bible calls it “reconciliation” with God, and says that everything God did through Christ was for the purpose of bringing mankind back to God and re-uniting us with our creator. (2 Corinthians 5:15-21) So when we find ourselves in need and desperate for help…that’s when we recognize how much we need God’s help, and if we turn to Jesus in times like that He promises to help us, forgive us, love us, save us, and give us his abundant life! (John 10:7-15) The Bible teaches that when we come to Christ it needs to be completely…with our whole heart and life, not just with lip service only. (Romans 10:8-13) Being a Christian means being “Christ-like”, and so our lives are intended to be lived in imitation of Christ’s life not just us making a statement of belief in Christ…we are called to live like Him not just say we love Him. (Ephesians 5:1-2) When we recognize that we are broken and hurting and lost and sinful, then we begin to recognize our deep need for Christ, and even though those times are some of the most difficult times they can lead us to God which is the best thing that could ever happen to us! (Romans 3:23-26) If you today are looking for hope, please consider calling out to God through Jesus Christ to save you from being alone and to accept His authority over your life. (James 4:7-8) When we humble ourselves before Him, God promises to pick us up! (James 4:10) All it takes is praying to God in acknowledgment of our sinfulness and brokeness and asking Him to restore and reconcile us with Himself…and He will do it, He’s shown His love for us already in giving us His Son and He will always be there to show us that same amazing Love! (John 3:16-21) It is our prayer that you will experience the same hope and joy and salvation through your faith in Christ that we ourselves have experienced. And if you’d like someone to pray with or talk to, please do contact us today and we’d love to talk more about how Jesus has transformed our lives and given us new life in Him! (Philippians 3:7-9)

New Hope’s weekly worship services are every Sunday morning from 10:30am to 11:45am. Our “little, white, New England-esque” Chapel seats about 170 people and has plenty of parking, is handicap accessible, and is easily located right near routes 24, 495, 106 and 138 in South Easton, MA. A typical Sunday morning would start with several praise and worship songs, have some time for sharing announcement and praises and prayer requests, include scripture reading and singing a hymn, a time for our congregation to give to support our ministries, and a sermon geared toward making God’s Word applicable to our daily lives. The focus of each and every service is for us to give thanks to God and show our gratitude for all He’s done, and for us to seek Him out to submit our hearts and minds to Him to let Him speak to us and guide us. Our services are aimed at being “worship” in every sense of the word, and we truly feel the presence of God’s Spirit every time we come together to honor Him and our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Our church family on most Sundays is somewhere around 80-90 people of all ages, ethnic backgrounds, and economic places. There are a ton of babies in the nursery (where we have wonderful, skilled, and CORI checked nursery workers every week), many children in Sunday School, and a group of adults who are focused on hearing God’s Word and working together to follow His will in their lives. There is a group of teenagers who make up the Jr./Sr. High Youth Group, as well as many singles of both older and younger ages. Basically no matter what place of life you are in, you will find others like yourself that you can connect with and build friendships with and grow in Faith together with.

There will be some people dressed very casually, and some dressed in their Sunday best. Feel free to wear jean or a suit or anything in between…you’ll find that you fit into the setting just fine either way. The service itself is more relaxed than formal, and there will often be moments of laughter and interaction between those leading the service and those in the congregation. In everything we look to keep the balance between traditional and contemporary, between formal and casual, and between youthful and mature. We hope that you come to visit us to experience the love and worship we enjoy each week. Our services really are a special time, and we’d love to have you join us. Hopefully this helps you get to know us better and we’ll look forward to seeing you soon!

New Hope Christian Chapel was founded in January of 1987, but initially started meeting in office space at [...]

New Hope Christian Chapel was founded in January of 1987, but initially started meeting in office space at 448 Turnpike Street in South Easton. As God blessed and the church family grew, we eventually purchased the plot of land we are currently at and were able to build a small, simple Chapel to worship in. It seated about 100 people and had a few classrooms downstairs. But after a few years we outgrew that as well and went through a building expansion which brought our seating capacity up to where it currently stands at 200 and also gave us a roomy function hall downstairs for fellowship events. With our current layout today, the Chapel can seat about 175 people comfortably and has plenty of parking in the front and back and in a rear grass parking lot. Both the first floor and lower level are easily handicap accessible and we have several handicapped parking spots right near the door. There are 4 classrooms downstairs and a large Grand-Room with a kitchen attached for luncheons and events. The Pastor and Administrator’s offices are downstairs as well and the offices are open Monday – Friday, 9am-2pm each week.

With the unique look and character of the Chapel, it is a favorite location for local weddings, and the parking and layout of the building lend itself well to those events. We also have a very professional sound system and have been host to local coffee houses and talent shows in the past. Our neighbors will sometimes use our facilities for family events or local organization meetings and we are happy to be involved in the life of our community in his way. We desire to use the building that God has given us to bless Him and those around us, and if there is an event coming up that you are considering holding at the Chapel, please contact us today and we’ll be happy to talk with you about the details. Feel free to look at our online calendar as well to see if the dates you are looking for are currently available.

New Hope also is host to two other congregations, the Good Shepherd Reformed Episcopal Church and the Lighthouse Gospel Church. Each also hold services on Sundays and have meetings and events throughout the week. We are happy to join with them as each of our congregations seeks to serve God and love our neighbors and preach the good news of Jesus Christ. Our churches are very different in style, but share the same love for God and heart to honor Him and His Word. Feel free to visit these other congregations as well at any time, you’d be blessed to meet them and we know they’d love to meet you!

With so many things going on at the Chapel, scheduling can be tricky. So please check the online calendar for availability, and please contact us with as much advance notice before an event as possible to give us the best chance of being able to help you bring about the event(s) that you’re hoping for! We’ll look forward to seeing you soon!
