New Hope Ministries

The Discipleship Institute

Discipleship at New Hope Christian Chapel has always been of the highest priority. Jesus, in Matthew 28:18-20, said that “making disciples” is the central commission that His followers should have. We seek to pair men and women with teachers and mentors and friends who can walk with them through the study of the Bible, basic Theology, and foundational Christian principles. We have 4 primary courses in our curriculum that have been developed over the past 25+years and have proven to be immensely helpful to those looking to grow in their faith, learn to study the Bible, and to take the next step in their faith in Jesus Christ. These courses are adapted for children, teens and adults and anyone looking to learn and grow will find them a great tool in that process! Please feel free to browse through this course listing and contact us if you’d like to be considered for discipleship yourself! And may God bless you as you seek to draw closer to Him and gain a deeper knowledge through the special revelation of the Bible!

The Four Week Bible Study

This introductory, four session study is designed for people who desire to begin to learn about the content, accuracy, teachings, and purpose of Scripture. It is designed to give a brief overview of these points and help someone become familiar with the amazing story of God’s redemptive plan. It is perfect for anyone of any age looking to take some first steps in learning what God has done and said, and what the Bible’s message is for us today.

The “Four Week Bible Study” course is recommended as a pre-requisite for anyone taking this course.

Foundations of Faith

Our fourth discipleship course, previously known as “Basic Beliefs”, has been taught at our church since its founding, and has given many, many people a solid understanding of what the Bible teaches on the basic tenets of faith. It is a 10 session course based on a lengthy set of scriptures that teach and support each doctrine, and requires the student to be reading and researching these scriptures each week at home in preparation for the discipleship discussion. With some very provocative and engaging discussion questions, this course is certain to give students a solid grasp of what the Bible actually says about these doctrines, as well as challenging practical application and integration into modern day life.

Hermeneutics

This fifth level course is both one of our most requested, and also one of our most challenging courses, taking anywhere from a few months to sometimes going more than 6 months to cover all of the material. It is based on the book “How To Read The Bible For All It’s Worth”, by Fee and Stuart, which analyzes the various literary styles found within the collection of the 66 books of the Bible. Its intent is to help a believer read the Bible with an understanding of how to interpret and apply the different things he/she is reading, such as poetry, history, prophecy, wisdom literature, and so much more. The richness and diversity of writings within the Bible can be either the most confusing or the most enriching part of studying God’s Word, and this course attempts to help the student learn how, when, and for what purpose each book of the Bible was written and how to apply that knowledge to our understanding of our faith today. This course is certain to stretch you, and will give you a greater appreciation for the Bible as you learn more and dig deeper into its origins, purpose, and application. The length of time that the student and teacher go through this material depends upon them, and can be as short as a few months or can continue for many months as desired or necessary.
