What is Serve Home?
Serve Home is a 100% volunteer-led summer community outreach serving the city of Brockton with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Coordinated by New Hope Christian Chapel, Serve Home brings together leaders, individuals, and families from the greater Brockton area for a powerful week of service, fellowship, and encountering God.Serve Home’s mission is loving our neighbors and empowering the local church.
How did Serve Home begin?
Serve Home was largely inspired by a youth mission trip that New Hope experienced with Next Step Ministries during summer 2017. After spending a week in South Carolina serving the city of Lexington, several New Hope members returned inspired by Next Step’s model and excited at the dream of possibly coordinating a similar outreach in our own community for all ages.
2018 was the first year of Serve Home, with 50 participants from 2 different churches working on a total of 3 work sites.
In 2019, Serve Home grew to 100+ participants from 12 different churches working on a total of 5 work sites.

Who is allowed to stay overnight?
During Serve Home, groups of teens (6th-12th grade) are invited to stay overnight at a local host church to allow for teens to experience the relationship building and personal growth that often happens on away-from-home trips. Any teens who want to stay overnight must register as part of a group with at least 1 adult leader for every 7 students. Overnight participants are provided with all lodging, meals, showers, and transportation for the entire week (Sun night - Sat morning).
Can my child participate?
One of the main goals of Serve Home is to provide an opportunity for all ages to serve on mission together, especially giving families with young children an opportunity to serve together. If your child is below 6th grade (minimum age to stay overnight), they must be registered alongside a parent or guardian who will serve with them. Children cannot be dropped off to participate on their own, but as long as a parent is registered and serving alongside him or her, then all children are welcome. In the past 2 years, our youngest participant was 4 years old and served with her mom.
